Why is wool so comfortable for babies?
Woolen baby clothes are very comfortable for your baby. There are several reasons for this. Wool is a natural material whose main characteristic is that it insulates and regulates body temperature. This means it can be worn in both warm and cold weather. Your baby will not get too hot or too cold in either warm or cool conditions. So, wool is suitable for every season!
In addition, wool is soft, breathable, and wicks away moisture quickly. This makes it feel pleasant on your baby's delicate skin. Because wool is hypoallergenic, it will not easily cause irritation or an allergic reaction.

What should you pay attention to when buying woolen baby clothes?
- The type of wool: for babies, merino wool or alpaca wool, for example, are very suitable because they are soft, do not prickle, and are therefore very suitable for sensitive skin.
- The fit: with the right fit, your child can move freely and comfortably and feel snug.
- How to care for wool: different types of wool have different care instructions. How do you wash wool, how do you dry wool? This can vary.
- Certifications: if you choose wool with an Oekotex or GOTS certification, you know that the wool has been produced in an environmentally friendly and safe manner. With GOTS, you also know that working conditions have been good throughout the entire process. Mulesing-free means that the sheep have not undergone painful treatment to ward off pests.
- Buy quality. Poor quality wool items can wear out quickly and lose their shape.
How do you care for the clothes after you have bought them?
It is sometimes thought that (merino) wool baby clothes are difficult to maintain. And then choose other types of fabric. This is really a shame! Because if you know how to do it, it's actually very simple:
1. Washing: Wool baby clothes can be washed by hand or in the washing machine. In the washing machine on a wool wash program with cold or lukewarm water. Use a wool detergent; this protects the fibers.
2. Stain removal: Treat stains immediately with a little wool detergent or ox gall soap and cold water. Do not rub too hard to prevent damage to the fibers.
3. Drying: It is best to let woolen baby clothes dry flat and not wring them out. This prevents the wool from losing its shape or felting. Wool should not be tumble dried.
4. Storage: It is best to store woolen baby clothes flat in a cool, dry place. To prevent moths, you can add cedarwood or lavender, or store it in a zip bag.
